Star Wars "Lost Tribe of the Sith: Paragon" by John Jackson Miller

The Suvudu Free Library released the third part in the Star Wars Lost Tribe of the Sith series this month titled Lost Tribe of the Sith: Paragon by John Jackson Miller.  Another wonderful addition to this series which dives us into the reality of what it means to be Sith, how this tribe came to be and their struggles for internal and external power.  This short series has been a fantastic edition to Star Wars lore and does not dissapoint.

The ruthless cunning of the Sith Order has served the shipwrecked crew of the Omen well on the alien planet Kesh. Star Wars: Fate of the Jedi: Allies - Cover Revealed!

Earlier today Starwars.com released the cover for the highly anticipated fifth book in the Star Wars: Fate of the Jedi series, "Allies" by Christie Golden.  The book will be released in June of 2010 so there is no synopsis yet, but the cover truly makes the imagination wonder where we are all headed in this series!

Star Wars: Lost Tribe of the Sith: Skyborn

In August the free Suvudu library released the second free official Star Wars e-book entitled "Lost Tribe of the Sith: Skyborn" by John Jackson Miller. These stories tell the largely untold story of the Sith and are featured prominently in the Fate of the Jedi novel series.

Star Wars: Lost Tribe of The Sith: Precipice - FREE

Many of you have probably read the "Fate of the Jedi" series as it is written thus far. There are currently two published books ("Outcast" by Aaron Allston & "Omen" by Christie Golden). Tauntaun Sleeping Bags - April Fool's Joke Turned Reality...Soon.

LA Weekly columnist Gendy Alimurung just wrote an excellent article about an April Fool's Joke gone terribly...right! For 2009 ThinkGeek.com had a slew of April Fool's Joke item listings including an Ultimate Assassin's Weapon Ice Mold, a USB Pet Rock, and of course the Tauntaun Sleeping Bag. Apparently the promise of a "Classic Star Wars sleeping bag (that) simulates the warmth of a Tauntaun carcass" is ideal for Star Wars fans and they weren't too happy it was not available! If it was good enough for Luke, I suppose its good enough for me and my kids!

Which leads to this week. Shane Peterman, Think Geeks Public Relations manager, told LA Weekly that they are trying to obtain a license from Lucasfilms in order to actually produce the sleeping bag! They have no idea when this will occur, or if ever, it is all in the hands of Lucasfilms now to approve or deny the license so they can start production on a viable scale.

The joke price was $39 as listed, but I'm getting collectors and geeks alike will pay more for something of this caliber! People are already commenting on the article saying they would pay upward of $89! I'd love to have one, but for $89 it better be a -20 degree thermal sleeping bag at least! :)

The Old Republic Trailer: Deceived

This is just amazing. It had me smiling and giggling like an 8 year old on Christmas morning. This trailer is by far the best video game trailer I have seen in a long time. Excellent lightsaber battles with large groups of Jedi and Sith. You can't get any better. Even some Matrix action in there to make it that much more awestriking. "You have been deceived". You gotta love that stuff. I'm going to watch it again before bed.

Star Wars: The Old Republic, Threat of Peace Comic

If you haven't had a chance to view the Star Wars: The Old Republic, Threat of Peace web comic, they just released Issue #2! Threat of Peace is a collaborative effort between BioWare, LucasArts and Dark Horse Comics. There is a new issue released twice each month. The web comic is a "dramatic and exciting introduction to The Old Republic time period and many of the characters who appear in the game."

What game you ask? Star Wars: The Old Republic by Bioware; a new Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG or MMO) that is due to be released at an unknown time and is currently in testing. Visit the official site for more information.

Currently we are on Act 1: Treaty of Coruscant, Issue #2. These comics are short but sweet; each issue thus far is 6 pages packed full of energy. It even looks like we have the basic model for Darth Vader's armor in Issue #2. Let me know if you see what I saw!

R2-D2 has a new friend!

R2-D2 has a new friend; Meet Beer2-D3! This masterpiece was created by Paul Loughridge, aka "Lockwasher".


Below is what Beer2-D3 was created from:
-Head - 1945 chrome BLC utility light shell.
-Eye - vintage movie camera lens w/adjustable spring-loaded aluminum casing.
-Body - 4.7 liter “adult soda” mini-keg.
-Legs - propane tank valve handles, brass spacers, drilled-out washers, pair of aluminum Lady Josephine shoe butler (wall-mounted shoe shine holders).
-Feet/base - 3 mini bread loaf pans, lamp hardware and a 1/2″ precision drilled aluminum base plate.
+assorted nuts, bolts, screws and, of course - lockwashers!

Very cool. He is a "rolling" billboard for Heinekin but the best use of a keg I have ever seen! Imagine the awkward bleeps and bloops he could greet you with as you decide you need a cold one. Someone might just be the life of the party!

Disney Star Wars 2009 Figures

Disney has announced that the final four Star Wars Disney character statues will be available this summer! Mickey Luke, Minnie Leia, Goofy Chewie, and Donald in Carbonite will be released with a limited edition of 600; 500 of which will be solely available at Hollywood Studios; 100 of each to Disneyland. They will be sold for a whopping $195; $5 cheaper than last year!

In 2008 we got to see Donald Duck as Darth Maul, Goofy as Jar Jar, Mickey as Anakin, and Minnie as Queen Amidala with the same limited edition run. I have thoroughly enjoyed looking at these figures, but have not had the pleasure to own them due to the steep price involved. I try to limit my action figures to $20 tops if possible! If you get a chance to visit Disneyland or Hollywood Studios during the Star Wars celebration have fun!

Star Wars: Infinities - Return of the Jedi

Don't adjust your eyes or your monitor...Darth Vader really is white, and this isn't some crazed fans action figure modification! I saw this Darth Vader in my local Target, did a lap around the store, came back to buy it, and it was GONE! I was not happy. Not sure why I didn't pick it up in the first place but I figured I would never see another one for sale (in a store) again. So, I went home to do a little research and found out this is part of the Star Wars Infinities series where alternate plots occur such as Leia joining the Dark Side and as you see here, Darth Vader joining the Light Side and dawning a bleached costume.

Here is a run down of what occurs courtesy of Wikipedia:
"On the Death Star, Palpatine orders Vader to kill Leia. Luke unleashes his lightsaber and duels with Vader himself. Leia attempts to intervene, but is subdued by Force Lightning from the Emperor, allowing Luke and Vader's duel to continue.

Han, despite his blindness, takes Chewbacca's place in the Falcon’s gunner turret after Chewbacca is injured. The Falcon flies down to Endor and destroys the shield generator, allowing the Rebel fleet in space to enter the half-completed Death Star. Lando takes the Falcon back to the Death Star to rescue Luke and Leia.

Luke continues to duel Vader, revealing to him that both he and Leia are his children. Vader is stunned by the revelation, but strikes down Luke at the cost of one of his arms. However, Vader is unable to kill his own children and surrenders, causing him to turn from the dark side of the Force.

During the duel, the Emperor escapes and Luke and Leia carry the wounded Vader to the Falcon waiting in the docking bay and escape before the Death Star explodes. Sometime later, on the Rebel flagship, Mon Mothma informs Luke that the Emperor is alive and still a threat. Anakin, now clad in a white variation of the suit he wore as Vader, agrees to help the Rebels track down Palpatine."

Quite interesting. I always wondered "what if"...and apparently I was not the only one. If you ever run into one and want to sell it at a decent price, not eBay sellers insane prices, please let me know! I will be forever in your debt! May the Force be with you! (I had to do it)
