The Wheel of Time: Eye of the World #0 - Dragonmount

I love the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. At first I found the sheer size of the massive series daunting, but once I got into Eye of the World (the first written book of the series), that physical size went away and was replaced by a wonderful world!

Dabel Brothers Publishing will be releasing "The Wheel of Time: Eye of the World #0 - Dragonmount", a Graphic Novel, April 29th 2009. From what I have seen so far the graphic novel based upon Eye of the World does the original work justice. Chase Conley does the cover and internal artwork for this graphic novel, and Chick Dixon adapts the original written work into the graphic novel format. Lets face it, you can't have as much "written" detail, but the physical imagery is what makes graphic novels excellent at times!

Here is a summary from the original press release:
(W) Chuck Dixon, Robert Jordan (A) Chase Conley At long last, the Dabel Brothers proudly bring you the adaptation of Robert Jordan's epic fantasy masterwork: The Wheel of Time! The saga begins here with the Fall of the Dragon and the Breaking of the World in this prelude issue to the ongoing series, in this edition available with Regular and PREVIEWS Exclusive covers. And the Shadow fell upon the Land, and the World was riven stone from stone. The oceans fled, and the mountains were swallowed up, and the nations were scattered to the eight corners of the World. The moon was blood, and the sun was as ashes. The seas boiled, and the living envied the dead. All was shattered, and all but memory lost, and one memory above all others, of him who brought the Shadow and the Breaking of the World. And him they named Dragon.
If you have never read the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan, go to your local book store and get a copy or borrow one from a friend. You can try your local library system, but there is normally a nice sized hold request list on each of the books unfortunately. But that goes to show you how popular the series is and how well Robert Jordan portrays the world and its characters.

You can view updates and more release information at the Dabel Brothers Publishing website.

  1. I've never ventured into the Wheel of Time, mainly becasue of the daunting length, but also becaus I didn't care all that much for his Conan pastiches. One day I'll probably try one.
